PHOTOGRAPHING YOUR WEDDING
At the end of your wedding day, after you’ve eaten the cake, after the flowers are gone, and once you’ve stored your wedding gown in readiness for the next time round, your wedding photographs are going to be the only thing which will clearly define your memories of the big day for the rest of your life. So you need to be clear you have the photographer you want; it's not just about the photography skills - it's also about working comfortably with him on what can be a busy and sometimes stressful day.
Shopping for a wedding photographer isn’t like selecting wedding outfits and bridal bouquets, and for one simple reason - you can’t see the pictures you’re buying until after you’ve made your decision. In the end, that decision will be largely a matter of faith. So, before you begin your wedding photographer search, you'll need to decide what style of photography you like best. What follows is what I can offer to make your day memorable. As you read this, please be assured that I work with you as bride and groom to secure what you want, not what I think you want or should get. You will find me courteous to you and your guests at all times, for I appreciate that while they may wish to be photographed (for some of the key players, have to be photographed), they are there to relax and enjoy the day.
So, what can I provide? Quite simply, I do not offer a 40-photo or 60-photo package. I have a passion for photography, and I will take photographs all day in order to give you a very extensive choice to select from after the wedding - usually about 300-400 (maybe much more) depending on the length of the wedding day. There is no such thing as too much photography at a wedding, for everyone will be taking photos by the bucket-load, so the photographer is lost amongst all this.
The following ingredients can be assembled in any shape or form to make up any photographic package you wish. I prefer to work with you to provide what you want; so, tell me what you want.
I can:
To achieve this level of service, please note that I do not undertake weekly wedding photography, and often not even fortnightly, in order to give the time and care necessary to prepare beforehand, and to process the photographs afterwards, including working on photobooks and DVDs which can take many hours of work. Indeed, you can create your own photobook using the same software if you feel so inclined; happy to advise and help.
Do you get to choose the photographs?
Absolutely, and this applies to the album, photobook and DVD. And we can then work together to design your album(s) and DVD to fully illustrate the story of your wedding from beginning to end.
And cost?
My fee is a flat-rate £250 plus the no-profit cost to the bride and groom of all used materials. In other words, my fee (which covers the hidden costs such as equipment, kit wear-and-tear, travel, venue check, correspondence, postage, etc) is £250, no matter how long you need me to attend (and this includes all meetings). I will not increase this cost, no matter how frequently we have to meet. I also supply all materials and products (prints, DVDs, CDs, books and albums) at actual incurred cost, with no profit added. For example, the maximum-size photobook (98 pages at A4) currently costs £68 (variable as priced in Euros), DVD’s and prints are under a tenner.
So, if you calculate the costs, you can have a full wedding service plus framed prints, photobook, several DVDs and archive DVD, and have change from £400.
Floral Hall (Inverness) wedding?
Many people get married in the Floral Hall, witth the wedding usually lasting only a couple of hours from arrival to departure, and with no evening attendance required of the photographer at a dance or meal afterwards. If you are planning this, please enquire as the rate given above is substantially reduced.
